Study Abroad in Vienna with IGE
Your semester with IGE Vienna can be the most important semester of your university experience.
live
At IGE we understand that you aren’t just studying in Vienna – you are living here. Everything about your term is designed with that in mind. From the “studentenheim,” or student’s home, that you will live in, to our weekly meals and free transportation passes, everything about IGE Vienna is designed to help you thrive during your time in Vienna. Other programs house you in large American dorms, isolated apartments, or in homestays where you will never meet anyone under 50. At IGE Vienna our students integrate into Austrian student life as extensively as possible and the ratio of Europeans to Americans at your dorm is usually about 40:1, so you won’t ever feel like there are only other American students to hang out with.
learn
On the Vienna Program you will study with Professors from the University of Vienna in a variety of subjects. Our courses are taught by professors holding the highest degrees in their fields and all units are fully transferable to any university in the United States. All students on the program enroll in our “Core Course” which focuses on the historical and cultural development of Central Europe prior to and during the Second World War, but the range of courses offered make this an ideal semester for almost any major of study. The Vienna Program provides a unique opportunity to travel and study in Central Europe during any term of the academic year.
explore
Explore Viennese and Central-European culture firsthand by integrating directly into the society. Dine in authentic Viennese restaurants with fellow students, linger at the Schonbrunn Palace’s gardens, or simply observe the locals over an extraordinary cup of coffee at one of the many cafes.
Travel is an integral part of the Vienna program and all students take part in a week long travel/study experience. Our current program explores “Islamic Europe” with trips to Sarajevo & Istanbul during alternating terms. Of course Vienna is also the ideal city from which to explore the rest of Europe. Munich, Salzburg, Prague, Budapest are all less than four hours by train and with all of Europe’s budget airlines flying into either Vienna or nearby Bratislava; all of Europe is at your fingertips.
